Winter Hiking and Snowshoeing

Sun, snow, fresh air. Forests, streams, crystals, icicles, romance, crunching snow.

Everything you can think of when it comes to winter hiking is available in Nauders—thanks to its high altitude and its commitment to gentle winter fun as well. The Nauders region at the Reschen Pass calls its exceptionally rich selection of alternative wellness activities and off-piste winter fun „Snowmotion.“ And that’s fitting, because on the 110 kilometers of cleared and groomed winter hiking trails at the intersection of three major Alpine valleys, you always get a little closer to yourself emotionally—and you reach that state simply by walking.

Culture & Events

For many centuries, the region’s economic, political, cultural, and military border situation shaped the development of the area around the Reschen Pass. It was here that the Romans crossed the Alps along the Via Claudia Augusta, and it was here that, throughout the centuries, people fought over territories or defended themselves against invaders. Especially in and around Nauders, the border fortresses of Altfinstermünz, Naudersberg Castle, and the Nauders Fortress, along with historic border fortifications, bunkers, and defensive structures, as well as museums and many other attractions, bear witness to an eventful history. The everyday culture of the past and present comes to life during special village tours led by locals.
